When Does This New Job Start?

They had been cooking a job for him for the past six years? He could not believe it an actual job for him. A major blow to him having this job was that no one bothered to say a single word to him about it. For years he had to settle for other jobs that had already ended or simply offered no money other than more volunteering. There was something he was doing since he was just a boy, but that was a secret. A secret that would lead to a brawl, or a broken limb if tampered with. What contract was that one would ask? None of their freaking business. A huge war going on in some far off galaxy that spilled over into the Milky Way or was it Milky Wave. His superiors and those who hand picked him did not get what his galaxy's name was. That he left alone.

It was because of these superiors he was able to know what it was. Every night they hinted at who would see it he would get this job. By day no one showed up. At night they grind their teeth over who was selected and whom they handed the responsibility to go see him. Either they hated his guts, thought of him as an asshole, a douche, a dickhead and other names given to him behind his back. For years he was always a lone wolf, a lone ranger, and a loner from time to time. Although he spent a lot of time alone he still managed to make friends and stay in touch with them. Many of them knew about the job that was supposed to be given to him. However events kept him from even knowing about this job in the first place. What he learned was that various people tried to control everyone else including the woman he loved in school.

Now he stood next to his new vehicle holding a map and a set of keys to some abandoned house owned by the city. It was something he did not expect, but it did go along with his original plan. For years he had to do other jobs, which made him feel like he was wasting his time. All he wanted was to find someway to show dedication to his original plans. Those were shattered by immature outcasts who had very few friends. He had to find the house first, which was somewhere along this block. All they did was hand him a key, and put it on a map. Whoever was in charge or gave him this job clearly had no clue, which house the city wanted him to search. They provided no real address or numbers just a general location. None of them even mentioned a street name. Forced to drive to three different cities in order to find this location made him want to shoot the person.

To everyone's fortune that job was finally clear to him as he began to walk down the neighborhood. One at a time he checked each house to see if anyone still lived there. Going down the street he just looked at the houses and the driveways. A few houses had cars in the driveways, and a about half a dozen other houses had signs of life inside them. He immediately ignored the houses that had cars in the driveway. Using the keys he went over to the houses that looked abandoned. One by one he checked to see if this was the house or not. None of them were. In his mind he knew he looked like a burglar or some modern day bandit robbing a house. After checking six more houses he found one at the bottom of the hill. This one did not have a driveway, but a set of stairs leading down to the house. Only there was no house to even search or clean out. So he had to search for a new job.
