Intervention Force #1117 Jumar

Lieutenant Valti kept thinking about this certain moon the locals called Berlon, which was not too different than the main planet. It was completely covered in forests, rivers, lakes, and a few seas. Her sister moons Ipsulla, and Gubbade Ilen had similarities to the main planet. Ipsulla sat covered in forests, vast fields, foothills, and rivers. Gubbade Ilen was mainly covered in water with islets, rock formations, and scattered islands all over her surface. None of those moons were their destination. On this planet of Calorn sits a nation between two mountain ranges known as Jumar. It is home to Gnomes, Dwarves, Goblins, and Zunia Pucks. Every one of these races emerged as a mountain community and thrived over the millennia in the Jumar regions. Some forged confederacies, others multiple kingdoms, and others a small empire. This kingdom wedged between two mountain ranges was being surrounded by the Nazdar Invaders.

Her own faction chose to step in ever since this planet had off world visitors try claiming lands as their own empires or realms. The Nazdar and Gantronese were the most successful due to numbers, technology, and strategy. Many of these nations, and kingdoms managed to hold them off with their own technology. Whereas others joined the invaders for protection, and dominance over a neighbor under the banners of one of these invaders. Other invading factions sided with the Nazdar and Gantronese. She looked down at a photograph of two twin mountains called Ipsul's Peaks. A reference to her heart and chest. Something Valti's friend back home would loath the most. Sure her features were desirable yet that never meant her friend wanted that kind of attention.

Lieutenant Valti took her eyes off the moons and the large planet to see their fleet heading towards the system. Under the command of IGA Admiral Vornetz a fleet of 72 Space Cruisers, Missile Frigates, Spearheads, Galactic Swords and various other types. All these ships did have a squadron of fifteen fighters in their own hangars. However, the fleet was covered by 182 random star fighters of the IGA Aerial Fighters Branch. The large vessel she was on made that fleet into 73 ships plus the fighters in her hangar numbered twenty-eight. Moving slowly the Red Behemoth carried 2,335 Soldiers including her own unit of Rangers. Just 75 Rangers were on board ready to go down and halt this invasion of a small nation. Among their fleet were two other ships who were to provide support for the defenses. Admiral Vornetz had his own mission, to combat the Gantronese fleet on another planet near Calorn where 7 Dragons reigned. She hoped they were not fighting dragons.

Her Commanding Officer, Captain Tisuns summoned her over to the briefing. She joined 2, 410 others for the briefing. Their contacts on the planet included 13 rebels who turned against the Nazdar, and a team of 14 former Gantron servants and ex-Grevaskii (Slave Soldiers) made an alliance with the state of Jumar. According to their reports from space Pirates who sided with them this state of Jumar had numerous allies. They were also working alongside turncoats who aimed to stall the Nazdar conquest. She did not know what was in store for her or her unit except for defending a whole nation that had not fallen to Nazdar rule. When the briefing was over every member involved in the intervention raced over their transports as the fleet came under bombardment. Valti sat down in the Ranger's transport and closed her eyes praying they would make it down. She also hoped these locals proved their boasted worth. Inside the transport none of them knew what happened nor could they see what happened. All they heard were the babbling, yelling, and screaming over the intercoms between pilots. A lot of bumps could be felt from the Nazdar Guns. It lasted for a while until they felt their transports enter the atmosphere.

Once she felt them land only then did she open her eyes again. Taking a deep sigh of relief Valti got out of her seat. Captain Tisuns ordered for them to prepare to meet the locals. Every member of her unit followed orders and waited for the transport's boarding ramp to lower itself. Knowing they had 2,335 Interventions Soldiers Valti pondered how many troops the locals were deploying for this defense. Bringing a variety in terms of races the contacts did have 13 rebels, and 14 former servants to the invaders. As for them they had white skinned humanoids, reddish humans, and blue skins. That did not matter right now since they had an Intervention to complete. It had to go well, or the invaders would have another state to control. Valti checked her own watch hoping the Jumarian Leaders and High Command were meeting them here. As the ramp came down on each lander the new arrivals were greeted by millions of happy Jumarians. Gnomes, Goblins, Dwarves, and Zunia Pucks welcomed the new arrivals. Even the pilots were greeted by these smaller beings.

Intervention Force 1117 were taken to the Leaders of the northern and southern defenses along the base of a mountain. They were ordered to leave their gear with the people who were in the middle of constructing defenses along Jumar's borders. At the northern headquarters they were greeted by five high ranking commanders of the Jumarian Military. With them were the leaders of the rebels and former collaborators. Next to these ex-collaborators was a leader of turncoats who brought with her 934 troops, 15 artillery teams, and to the very dismay of Valti an effing war dragon. She almost fainted, but kept herself together. The Nazdar, their Grevaskii, slave-solders, allies, and other collaborators planned to attack from the north first then from the south. Jumar was a new state inhabited by some 31, 364, 096 Gnomes, Dwarfs, Goblins, and Zunia Pucks. These four races just came together as one nation with a few Goblin Chieftains, a Goblin King, Dwarf Kings of other mountains, backed by Dwarf Clans, Elected Gnome Officials, and Zunia-Puck Elders who are often voted in or out of office. For twenty-eight years these four races managed to pull off some sort of Oligarchy mixed with a Constitutional Monarchy, and a Republic. The Kings would remain in their seats, and work with the Chieftains, Elders and elected officials. A quartet of each race or kingdom were selected to represent the Jumarian State. This made many of the arrivals' heads spin.

Aside from the 13 rebels, and 14 ex collaborators these defenders had one anti-infantry car, 239 gunslingers they hired, and 934 turncoats who brought 15 artillery pieces manned by 4 man teams, and a war dragon. How they managed to capture that dragon was beyond Valti's comprehension. Intervention Forces 1117 brought 2410 troopers, soldiers, Rangers, two ships, which were a Goddess Class Carrier, and a Kentrosaurus Class Battleship. Captained by Luvris Wartaker the Battles ship, Galactic Dame provided 500 troopers, 1, 936 personnel and 37 turrets. It also brought 27 aircraft on board of which they brought 27 more fighters and a carrier of 134 aircraft or fighters. That carrier gave them 5, 041 personnel, and 300 able bodied pilots who would be conscripted to join the battle. All areal fighters would provide air support and protection to all ground forces.  This carrier also worked like a factory and repair shop for aircraft. It was loaded with enough parts to make more fighters.

On the ground their defenses would involve the Intervention forces, the ex-collaborators, some 915 pirates who also brought their own ships to defend the southern border. Jumar's borders would be protected by Gnomes, Dwarves, and the Goblins while the Zunia Pucks acted as a Peace Keeping Police Force to keep everyone as calm as they can. Jumar has 43, 590 Gnomish Troops, 265 artillery pieces with a 4-man team (1,060 personnel), 4,500 Dwarfs of Jumar, 82, 000 battle ready Goblins who split that force to protect both borders, and allies to help defend the north. For allies these Jumarians managed to rally 109 Uxane renegades, and warriors, 161 Forsythan Warriors, who arrived with 89 Elf Bowmen, and Warriors. Neighboring mountains, and factions also sent aid to held protect Jumar as it was a crossroads to other communities all over the mountains. Some 65 Serpent Knights from a neighboring mountain arrive to help. A Dwarf Mountain Kingdom sends 1,155 Fighters, and Crossbowmen each armed with a firearm they crafted. To Valti's surprise a faction of Elves were Mountain Elves who sent 240 Rangers, Bowmen, and Soldiers to help the Jumarians. Other outsiders marched from the deepest parts of the mountains including a unit of 106 winged warriors from Syrianos, a country that fell to the Nazdar Invaders. These winged warriors were no doubt a resistance group from the mountain ranges.

Valti sat in the command center of the northern front listening to her superior who was being informed by one of the Goblin High Commanders. She informed the alien superior about their southern front. Just 42 artillery pieces manned by 168 personnel guarded the front with 41, 000 Goblins. With the Goblins were 10, 000 Gnomish troops, and 13, 755 Dwarfs of Jumar and a neighboring Dwarf Kingdom. Close to their borders another Goblin Faction sent 20, 976 to help protect the southwest, whereas 1,134 militiamen from a human mountain city-state next to them came down. Among these allies were more warriors, and fighters coming to help defend the Jumarian roads, and passes. From an eastern mountain 123 Draconic warriors join the defenses, some Human Wolf Clan send 465 members with 17 Berserkers. From the Norvath portion of the mountain ranges 138 Mountain Monks come to aid them with 152 Tattooed warriors who take up the call, and 185 Heavy Norvath Blades sent by the Masters and Elders. Other Mountain Factions sent reinforcements to bolster and strengthen the defense of the crossroads. From one Peak among the mountains came 160 Mountain Viragos (female Warriors) armed with all sorts of weaponry other than modern. One war-band's worth of 200 Barbarians came to aid Jumar from all over the mountain ranges. They had fought plenty of slavers and knew the Nazdar plans from the world.

While Valti checked the factions list an earlier expedition concocted, the Goblin went on about the other factions. Apparently, there was a Nomadic group called the Nomadic Arcane Wives who sent 50 powerful Battle Mages and Warlocks. Two other factions included 1,515 wolf men hybrids called Ocris, and an Ape Humanoid community who sent 74 warriors after a vote was made. When their briefing was over, she got to meet these allies at the front. These Ocris scared her and some Intervention troops as they resembled werewolves a little too much. As for the Apes they looked more like large Primates. She never fussed about her own features yet looking at the female Arcane users she almost felt invisible to the rest of her male brethren. She did not view these Jumarians as abusive or oppressive until she saw hundreds of trolls come to the front in chains, shackles, and weights. The moment she was about to protest to her superiors 240 trolls were armored and sent in to test the enemy forces. In their barracks near the entrenched positions, she read these Jumarians had 108, 457 Dwarfs in reserves, 263, 844 Gnomish Troops in reserves, and 436, 836 Goblin Warriors and Soldiers in reserves. For a population of over thirty-one million people that should be enough to hold these borders. However, she did not know total strength of the invaders. While they waited, they received 1,192 green recruits, and 874 mess ups to add more to the ranks. She found it humorous and gladly took them as raw recruits.

Several days passed and the armored trolls returned to the Jumarian borders. Although they belonged to a different faction these trolls chose to aid them while the rest wanted nothing to do with warfare. Out of the 240 Armored Trolls sent out six returned with some news. All six of them looked bloodied, bruised, tired, depleted of life, and had little to no armor. Most of the armor they wore had been destroyed by bullets, and heavier weapons. The company of Trolls came across a force of 15,502 collaborators who had various weapons, a single tank, a large hairy beast of a warrior, 3 powerful witches, and 7 Goblin Guides setting up a base near the slopes of a forward peak. Among them were 13 mercenary fighters the Nazdar brought. Although the heavily armed trolls killed many of the invaders' collaborators and destroyed some vehicles they were still beaten back. Through their eyes it became a massacre leaving six trolls alive. According to one troll with the best memory some division of Uxane warriors operating in the northern mountains came down the slopes. It was when the Trolls were down to just seven when these Uxane struck, ambushing another division of Khet, and Votheen collaborators. A Zunia Puck read the troll's mind reporting to Valti's commanders about 12, 156 Native Warriors prowling and lurking along the Nazdar Empire's mountain borders. From the way she described the brutish warrior's memory most of these native warriors harassed, killed or maimed the enemy invader whenever they were on a raid. All the weapons were taken from the dead bodies along with any needed supplies or loot.

Just looking at the state of these trolls force pity into her. Her heart dropped into her stomach. She felt sorrier for those big souls than anything. One of them burst into tears when he was done giving his report. The Goblins, and Dwarfs dismissed them allowing the six trolls to return home. When she was informed of what else these Trolls saw she was taken aback. Vornetz said nothing about some rogue fighters of the IGA acting on their own accord. Valti turned to Tusins who then asked the Captain of the fighter pilots giving them air support. Not even they knew about Intervention 1118 that was sent underneath their noses.
