Running through the streets at night he made an attempt to evade his pursuers. All the guards "running the city" were completely useless. Were the clergy as useless as the guards? He did not want to ask that question let alone see it answered. Just seven days ago they just elected a new Pope to the Catholic Church. Oddo Colonna became Pope Martinus V. Their previous Pope, Gregory XII made attempts to end a schism during his reign. Such peace allowed the likes of him to worship on this world among Christians of both Orthodoxy and Catholicism. Now that Gregory XII was no longer head of the church his days became numbered. A mysterious clergy member, some Cardinal ordered for his removal.
Racing to the ports he prayed to find his ship that awaited to depart from the city. Whatever pursued him although human in appearance were not from this world. Neither was he, but he chose to be at peace among these humans of a world who knew so little of the galaxy. As he rounded a corner two axes hit some beam and a barrel. It indicated his pursuers were not far behind. Whoever he was to these people, his name would likely be wrong or forgotten. Never written down somewhere or just burnt to ashes in a fire. Sweat soaked his clothes when he found his way to the docks. His ship was waiting for him. So was his protection. A family of nine men and woman who were not from this world either stepped forward upon his approach. Each one looked identical, handsome, some scars, others facial hair, and all of them tall. Dressed in various types of armor one would mistake for a Roman Legionnaire's armor or some ancient armor, this family had tails very similar to a monkey's tail. He raced past them letting them deal with his pursuers who apparently brought an army with them. An army that just became lambs to the slaughter compared to his hired protection. When he boarded this ship, he slumped down on deck relieved his life in the Italian Peninsula was over. Yet it felt saddening to leave.
