Gredaro kept checking his laboratory. Some rat thing kept getting inside it every week for something. Inside he laboratory he checked the shelves, desks, tables, cabinets, tool cases, cupboards, and chests. Nothing seemed to be missing. He hoped his pupil Amerius did not break it or leave it outside somewhere. Rain poured down, hitting the tower roof. Although the boy was Grussian bastard born he was still loved by the noble who sired him. Using his alteration magic Gredaro illuminated the room to get a better look. Looking around his own laboratory Gredaro still did not see it. Yet he did find the rat that kept getting in. Little Goblin-Elf from Cydnam proved to be somewhat useless these days. His one job was cleaning out the vermin, and rodents inside the tower. Gredaro was about to shout for the Goblin when a loud banging came at the tower door. His hearing was enhanced over the years with help from experimenting.
The Wizard clambered down the ladders and staircases until he reached the main door. As Gredaro descended the tower the banging continued. He passed a few inhabitants who woke up groggily. Just a few were scared. His pupil Amerius, the Goblin-Elf Fytbak Magris, a dark elf maid named Icude Vozat, and a mage in training, Pasior poked their heads out of their rooms. He waved for them to go back to bed when the banging came again. Gredaro was fuming now as he descended to the main door. He wanted to fry whoever disrupted them this time of night in the outskirts of Oramatra. When he opened the door he found twelve Gantronese at the entrance.
"What do you want at this hour?" Gredaro demanded of the Gantronese.
"As an Officer of the Imperial Gantronese Forces I am authorized to send out warnings to all living outside city limits." the Gantronese said.
"What? We had permission from Oramatra's ruling governors themselves. Was there a take over?" Gredaro asked him knowing what was said in the Deed from Oramtra.
"Under Gantronese jurisdiction no one is to live outside city limits. You have a week to move." this Officer informed Gredaro.
"Who orchestrated this? Was it that Prince, or was it the bimbo Priestess Heraxian?" Gredaro demanded.
"That is none of your business Wizard! The Vestrisians are just about to invade our empire in exactly 24 hours! Now get moving!" the Officer demanded.
"Leave? But, but this is our home, we've always lived in this tower! Master Gredaro do not let them move us please!" One of his pupils were almost in tears from hearing this news.
"Get your runts to shut up!" A Mulzaneen trooper barked.
"Hush my pupils hush go back to bed!" Gredaro commanded.
"You have three days to pack your belongings and leave for Oramatra. Good Night Wizard." the Gantronese sneered at them. The officer waved a hand and a soldier pulled Gredora's door closed.
Two days went by with no disturbance from the Gantronese authorities. Gredaro had a stern conversation with the Prince's sister Nimoa who urged him to comply. She had to convince him that Heraxian was no longer at the Prince's side. Oramatra's main Prince married a noble girl from Kilscar Orvain, another city-state under the thumb of these Gantronese. Gredaro had his pupils pack up what they could and placed all the bags and suitcases at the foot of the steps. This allowed him to contact a few other wizards he knew. Through a lost art in arcanism he was able to communicate with a few others when the Gantronese burst into his home. Gredaro had to cut the conversation short to deal with the Gantronese himself. Who else would have the nerve to burst into a Wizard's home like that? His ears picked up their boots, and yelling in that angry panicked language of theirs. Gredaro came to the stairs when he heard the Vestrisians began their invasion, and that all buildings outside the city had to be garrisoned for ambushes. That was fine by him, but what was not fine with Gredaro was one of his own pupils getting pushed down the spiral staircase.
Looking down he saw who it was, Amerius. What made things worse was a servant of theirs getting shot for getting in the way of the Gantronese soldiers. Gredaro, his assistant Fytbak Magris sent fireballs at the Gantronese who came up the stairs. As he levitated from the floor he glided down to meet the new enemy. During his descending glide he heard shooting from the jungles. Those Vestrisians he was warned about already began their invasion. He presumed it was an expedition sent by sea to launch an assault behind enemy lines. Upon exiting his home he found the Gantronese engaged with the invading Vestrisians. Gredaro realized who the true enemy was.
