While I was in china we visited multiple cities and towns. A few of the places we went to had a tradition to them. In a place that was known as the Garden of a thousand roses and flowers was a hall with depictions and images on the floor. According to ancient traditions one must walk on these patterns a certain way in order to gain fortune and luck for future success. Each pattern that was on the floor represented a different path to success and fortune. Some people did this to gain a favorable life in the future. Others like the student who stayed with my mother did them to be granted success in school. I did not get the full story of how it came about, but learning about this caught my attention. It is strange how I remember this in some detail.
Here is one them that I took a picture of back in 2012 during my visit. I do not know how accurate I am on what the tradition of gaining fortune through these customs.
