Nevertake

Painting Room

Telvyan Nevertake was a fabulous artists, ever since childhood she painted. She painted nearly every day of her life, completing works that became master pieces. Telvyan spent many hours inside on some days and others outside.

Painting was her life, she loved and embraced it. She was admired and respected by all the towns people and anyone who had seen her work. She lived in a small house next to the deep river flowing through the town. Telvyan did not mind living alone in a house. Often she would receive visitors who would come to stay and gaze upon her artwork with admiration. Telvyan was beautiful and loved as were her paintings. Many young men proposed to her but she declined saying, "You are a very nice gentleman, but I am sorry to decline, for I fear there is no room for you and my artwork." with a smile. Telvyan was not at all interested in romance and love as well as marriage. That all changed in one day. It was late August when the town was being occupied by soldiers of some Royal Imperial army. She was outside by the river finishing a piece of art when a cavalry man rode up to her on his steed. He was a charming, handsome man about her age. Dismounting his horse the young soldier presented a single rose to her. Telvyan blushed and looked away feeling embarrassed. She took the rose with delight and passion.

Smelling the flower's scent she smiled and said, "Thank you."

The man was overwhelmed with delight, he took her hand and kissed it. He danced away to his steed, humming a wonderful melody about her as he rode off with good spirits. The next day he came again to find her with the rose in a glass by her side. He introduced himself to the magnificent artist. His name was Corporal Zadros Rinnab. Zadros already knew her name, he was told by the farmers who lived nearby.

The two sat down and talked of their thoughts and about their life stories. Zadros was a poet, he read some to her whenever they met. They spent every day together, she would paint portraits of him and he wrote her some poetry. Telvyan and Zadros grew to love each other. The two lovers had a splendid life together over the past two months. Then one day the cavalier was called upon for duty. So he left her for some time. She missed the young poetic man. They still remained in contact through letters written once every two weeks. Telvyan kept painting as she waited for the soldier's return.

Then everything went into darkness for her. One autumn day she received a letter from a post boy whom looked rather grim in the face. Taking it in her soft hands Telvyan went inside. She opened the letter and read it.

The wretched artist was broken by the words printed in the letter. It read that her beloved Zadros had been killed while fighting honorably for the Imperial Religion. This news brought this woman to such grief that she went insane. She grew devastated and delusional. Growing ballistic Telvyan pulled out her hair and drowned herself in the river. It is to this day that the room which has all her paintings is still as she left it.
