Murtolic: "Did you find the brooch?"
Para: "No, where was I supposed to find it?"
Murtolic: "Upstairs in the Laird's chamber."
Para: "I think she took it."
Murtolic: "WHO?!!"
Para: "Her lady's favorite, Abigail."
Murtolic: "No words describes how inconsiderate, and greedy that one is."
Para: "Abigail has always been snooping around every chamber."
Murtolic: "You are just now revealing this."
Para: "My own duties are to be at your side."
Murtolic: "Now that the Laird is dead, his brother Gurum has the estate under his lairdship."
Para: "Will we serve his brother Gurum? That man is more barbarian brute than laird."
Murtolic: "Nay Para, we will be gone by the time he arrives."
[Both move through the estate gathering their own belongings for travel. Murtolic grabs the coin purse he stashed away. Upon approaching the doorway an estate servant cornered them.]
Estate Servant "Going somewhere? Murtolic, and Para?"
Murtolic: "Leaving our home for another Broch, Caitlin."
Caitlin: "Oh really? I thought th-"
[Murtolic cut her off with a dagger shoved into her gut. The servant collapses on the floor by the door. Murtolic and Para make their exit. Taking their leave, both are on the road searching for tracks of Abigail.]
Para: "Tracks from the horse cart appear fresh."
Murtolic: "She cannot be brought back, Magon's wife will bludgeon her. We need to take care of Abigail ourselves."
Para: "Beat us to most of the Laird's treasure she did."
Murtolic: "After three days of searching and traveling now you tell me this!?"
Para: "I thought you knew. She left most of it empty. Abigail is the Laird's favorite of the estate."
Murtolic: "Only what eight of us served him on the inside of the estate."
Para: "He never married."
Murtolic: "Someone became his catamite or he was lame."
Para: "Do we follow the tracks?"
Murtolic: "Yes lad. That brooch needs to return to the estate. She either took it to sell it or bring it to our late laird's nemesis, Moragog the witch."
Para: "Morago?"
Murtolic; "Moragog!!"
Para: "Sorry. That name is new to me."
Murtolic: "After all these years-. Never mind you were a wee babe, a wee one, a bairn, a dunce pup."
Para: "Oh. To um Moragog then!!"
[Murtolic facepalms and scowls at Para. The pair follow tracks to what looks like a cave made from waddle and daub mixed with a shed or badly made cottage. Just feet from it lay a tipped over wagon. Two dead figures, cargo strewn about, and looted. Signs of struggle then somehow some form of dance could be seen in the dirt.]
Para: "Abigail is not here. A terrible waste of a good life these two drivers. Always on the road. Seen places. Probably went as a far as Rome."
Murtolic: "Quit smiling, check the tracks around the cart."
Para: "We search the whole cart. Two dead drivers, a runaway nag or stolen one."
Murtolic: "What good is a dead nag?"
Para: "Lots of things with a nag dead or alive."
[The door to the cottage slowly swings open with a nice creaking sound. At the entrance stands the witch Moragog herself.]
Witch Moragog: "Welcome to my lair. Weary travelers, or should I say scavenging looters."
[Both jump out of their skins as they turn to find the infamous witch Murtolic mentioned.]
Para: "Oh fair lady we are just humble pilgrims on our way to the abbey."
Murtolic: "We are not even Christians!"
Para: "Thought I soften something in case she murders us."
Murtolic: "You boiled cow's udder! She is a thief, liar, an ableeze ban, a blazing curse upon this earth! By the ancient gods versus the new one we don't have time left after speaking to her."
Para: "Could we ask her nicely where Abigail is?"
[Flares his nostrils in disbelief and anger at Para.]
Murtolic: "Go ahead she is right there. I insist, our funeral awaits."
[Gets on one knee as if he is proposing.]
Para: "Oh Moragog the fairest of witches in all Britannia. I mean in all of Albion! Could you tell us where Abigail is buried? I mean where you stored her?"
[Murtolic rolls his eyes and facepalms whilst turning away. Moragog simply blinks at him observing the former lordless servant.]
Moragog: "All of Albion? Oh, is it all over Albion and Hibernia? Meaning Ireland, Eriu?"
Para: "Um yes."
[Looks back at Murtolic for answers who just scowls at the ground.]
Para: "All of Albion, Roman's Brittania, All of Ireland, Eriu, Ireland, and Ierne."
[Makes a smug satisfied expression while fanning herself with a hand.]
Moragog: "Albion, Calledonia, Eriu, Manx, Cornwall, W, Isle of Man, and Gaul."
Para: "Yes all of those I suppose. Wait Gaul? Are you a travelling witch?"
Moragog: "Yes."
[Gleefully grabs Murtolic by the arm.]
Para: "Then we are yours oh witch!"
[Stunned by this Murtolic turns around to face Moragog.]
Moragog: "Well come inside. Abigail is tied up in a chair and that brooch is on the table. Meal is on the house!"
[Both Murtolic and Para race inside the cottage forgetting their whole quest.]
