Castaria-Zegrav #6: Air Raids

While dining with the Mayor, Brynn Rosefire ordered for her Country Guards to head back to camp near the bridges. Olalyn did the same with his own. As for Kriski, he ate quickly and left with his company of Country Guards. Major Jakab sent his own Dragoons back to camp as well. This region know to some as Triangular Hills. While others call it the Overzealous Hills lay just 5 miles from the bridges. Almost intending to stay another night, Brynn looked outside a window in a guest room. Outside in the evening sky she caught sight of a stray camel wearing a military cap straggling around freely. The entrepreneur, Lulu Stormvale joined her on her right side. She wore a turquois blue night gown. It looked good on her tannish skin tone and dark hair.

"That camel belongs to a former Maiguard from Kaniima, a caravan guard for hire. She is currently acting as security here. Are you going off tomorrow? Or are you staying here?" Lulu asked her grabbing Brynn by the arm. The entrepreneur pressed her breasts against Brynn. Rubbing herself against the Captain Country Guard enticed her a little bit. Checking out Lulu's cleavage Brynn felt something rise up. Brynn did sleep around in her younger years. It mostly involved men, but no child was produced. Some women did sleep with her. That was mostly during the days of training, and keeping warm in winter or cold nights. Her gaze went to Lulu's face. She recalled her own children who reside in Stagville for her sake.

'There is a sheriff in Dinotzi Thumb who can please you better. She has three arms. Or is it three legs?" Brynn told Lulu unintentionally enticing Lulu even more to the point of arousal. It resulted in Lulu kissing her arm then her face. Brynn succumbed to desire grabbing Lulu by the cheeks then kissed her ferociously. This entrepreneur took Brynn to bed for the night. Seeing she had no other choice, Brynn slept with Lulu the entrepreneur. Maplebee swooped in through the window with dinner in her talons. Tonight's owl meal was a rat. Maplebee at it up on the windowsill. Brynn faced the window will Lulu rubbed herself against her. Brynn fondled Lulu for a good hour before dozing off to sleep.

A restful sleep was interrupted early after dawn. Scores of vehicles rolled in from many directions. Every vehicle either sounded like a tank, military vehicle, or civilian vehicles. Popping her head out of a window Brynn searched for the vehicles. Forced to go outside and find them Brynn dressed quickly. Exiting the Mayor's palace she went to the wall barriers where she could see them. At the 14 tank encampment 110 armored vehicles arrived. No more than 48 tank tracks with AA gun turrets attached, 14 armored cars with machinegun turrets, 28 Drake or Dragon tanks MKI's, 4 tank destroyers, and 2 armored Zedelet troop carriers arrived from the northwest. Among them was a single motor bike. The motor cyclist appeared to act as a scout for this company of armored vehicles.

In the pinkish orange sky eleven aircraft flew above them. Three old style aircraft from the Zegrav conflict and 8 ambulance rescue aircraft. All eleven flew in a wide slow circular formation. They appeared to be searching for a place to land.. Brynn stopped watching to get some breakfast. Going back to Collgard's Palace she found Major Jakab, Captain Olalyn outside. Both commanding officers already dressed for the day. Jakab acted oblivious to her presence. He marched over to the new arrivals. Seeing the motorcyclist in all brown leather and durable boots she grew disinterested in the conversation. Her gaze went all over the interior portion of the castle system. Behind the Mayor's Palace and next to the keep stood a Cathedral. Studying it she noticed it was a white temple in a Manor style architecture. In a few of the windows she spotted 6 guitars, and a grandfather clock.

Roaming around the interior wall she saw a little more that she missed. Along the road between the castle system and Fort Tricorne sat two stone houses. Five children ran out laughing and playing. Mothers came out yelling for them to come back when they call for them. Seeing the two story houses inhabited she returned to Collgard's. Lulu stood in the light blue dress that revealed too much cleavage. Hungry for breakfast she sauntered over to Lulu holding a tray of food. On the tray sat a plate of sausage patties surrounded by fruits. Disregarding manners Brynn scarfed down the food.

Looking at Lulu once she was done, Brynn could tell she already ate her own breakfast. Brynn was about to say good morning to her when Olalyn came up to them. Turning her head to greet him the Elf froze in his tracks. His gaze transfixed on the sky with an expression of concern. She turned around to see what Olalyn saw that made him concerned. A wave of 346 objects up in the sky flew towards them like a swarm. None of these looked like their own aircraft of the VUVR air force. Coming in from the south this wave of objects were apparently alien starfighters and what appeared to be bombers. These aircraft held shapes similar to dragonflies, two pronged daggers, claws, crescent moons, earless bats, spades, hearts, and brandistock spearheads.

"Sound the alarm! Everyone get to shelter!" someone yelled from Collgard's Palace window.

"To the Keep and bunkers now!" another person yelled.

Brynn fought the urge to run for cover. She watched this wave of fighters come under fire from AA guns on the ground. These alien fighters swooped down in a split formation, dropping bombs and unloading hell on their targets. She covered her own ears when the loud sirens came on. People rushed out of their homes to the keep for cover. Olalyn grabbed her by the arm like she was an idle clueless child. Her eyes did not leave the sight of these aircraft. Several of them went down from Anti-Air craft fire. Being dragged by arm she still witnessed their own aircraft zooming in to intercept this swarm. Olalyn took her to the safety of Collgard's Palace where a basement and bunker were installed. Checking the walls she could not help but wonder if this is how the Vullanese, Vimasdrans, Muskallans, and Gontrellans felt when Vestrisian bombers came. She heard many supported the Nazdar invaders, but did all of them support this alien empire that spread across Calorn?

Forced to hide from the bombs in the shelter of Collgard's basement Brynn wrenched herself free of Olalyn's grip almost like an unruly teen would. Brynn took a seat in a chair closest to the door to the stairs leading back up. Ignoring everyone else she allowed Lulu to finish dressing her. Hunkered down in the Collgard's bunker and basement they waited for the bombing runs to hit them. Silverdog was bombed twice in its history. The first time by Vestrisian Roguepunch bombers that are no long being produced during the 3rd Castarian War. As for the second time a squad of Zegrav Ablesparrow4's. Both wars were long over. She listened to the stories from Mayor Collgard's very lips for a few more minutes. Waiting for the bombs to hit follow by shaking, Brynn blocked everyone out.

Closing her eyes Brynn Rosefire saw flashbacks return to her. Ten years ago she was sort of in the Black Coats, whom aided the Blackmell settlements. Alongside 441 Black Coats, and thousands of others, Brynn fought against the Gontrellan forces. At one abandoned village they came under fire in an air raid. One soldier or more lost his mind as well as others. It made the efforts of 3228 mercenaries, 1015 militia, 2044 soldiers of Mergos state to nothing. Nearly 7000 came to the aid of nine small independent city-states, factions, and nearly 30,000 rebels(29,718). She recalled how a force of 200,000 Gontrellans engaged them and failed. Combining forces the 8 other states could only muster 10,200 together. To the south Boathria of Boathrin kingdom could only spare 315. Just 315 well equipped and trained troops who also had experience in warfare. Troops from their 5th regiment's Catspear battalion slipped in to fight Gontrella. Yet Gontrella's Flying-Wraith3s, and Hollow Darters did them in. Just 123 FW3s, and 327 HD8s swooped down on their positions. Recalling the scene of them getting bombed Brynn remembered an airship on the ground. It got riddled with holes from the swooping aircraft. Two bombs completely destroyed it, killing all those inside it. Trying not weep she could still see its destruction leaving 3 wild Dwarf Warriors, 2 Dark Elves, 2 female Elf Wizards, a male monk, and a female succubus blades woman without a home. This group chose to unite years before and travelled together. She never saw them again after that battle.

Each flashback slowly disappeared as each one ate at her mind. She also began recalling three structures they bombed. One fort manned by 53 soldiers, an old castle with 35 retainers, a temple hospital with a staff of 76, and 13 security guards. This all happened one decade ago while the final but 3rd Castarian conflict transpired. Technology such as electricity, automobiles, lights, telegraphs, phones, radios, and such emerged a century or so ago. It developed over time at a turtle's pace. No one was in a hurry. For 8 centuries gunpowder, muskets, cannons, and battle line formations reigned alongside old style weapons. She presumed Calorn's first working machinegun did not come into play until late in the Muskallan conflict of 1782 AN. Due to constant jamming it was trashed b some and reserved for defensive methods by the rest. Some prototypes exploded after overheating temperatures soared.

Coming back to the present, Brynn tried recalling how explosives did not pander well for rulers. This was for 713 years before the 1200's A.N. She blocked all the bombs, and shaking of the earth. That included everything that rattled in the earthquake after impact. She got up from the chair with Lulu clinging on to it. Brynn knew this was her second experience with an air raid bombing. Just looking at the Entrepreneur she could tell this was either her first time or it happened in the past. It also scared her.

"Is this the first time for you?" Brynn asked Lulu, who had wide eyes and the expression of fear frozen on her face. She did not respond to Brynn. Becoming concerned by this unresponsive behavior she reached a hand out to her.

"Do not worry about her Captain Rosefire. I will send for the apothecary and psychiatrist. You go do your duty." Collgard warded her away from Lulu, ordering her to attend to her duties as a Country-Guard.

Looking up at the ceiling she wondered why the bombing raid only lasted for an hour and a half long. No real answers came except for the arrival of 52 heavy Primeforce2s an the AA tanks. Brynn shrugged this off and joined Olalyn back to the surface. Noticing Major Jakab was not among them, her gaze shot to Olalyn. They were at the Palace entry hall when thee region outside exploded with gunfire. Getting down she peered through a ground level window. Through the glass pane she spied rebels, Gnolls, and Troglodytes attacking. As far as she could tell from watching the scene, not many of them got far. Machinegun fire proved too strong for the attackers. In her mind estimated hundreds of them attacking Triangular region. Several attackers rushed up to the Mayor's Palace. Brynn and Olalyn burst out of the Palace with pistols and melee weapons drawn. Protecting the Mayor's place  become a priority. Only five rebels, Troglodytes, and Gnomes reached the palace. All the other rebels were mowed down by the tanks, AA Tanks, and troops in the area. When the guns fell silent they checked the casualties. About 90 wounded, and 27 dead for the VUVR. Seven AA tanks were hit, five Drake tanks were taken out of action. Other vehicles were hit but sustained minimal damage. Dozens of alien aircraft lay in the earth burning, smoldering, and in pieces.

Olalyn ordered for her to follow him. Doing so she mounted up to assess the damage and enemy casualties. Riding around the pair of them discovered several structures were hit. Most of the houses remained intact and unharmed. Moving on they also discovered a force of 2319 rebels, Gnolls and Troglodytes attacked according to a Grey Gnoll who died of his wounds. Redoing the estimates she calculated 707 Castarian rebels, 1009 Gnolls, 623 Troglodytes who had air support. This air support lost more than half its force before scattering in the skies. Their own aircraft that intercepted the swarm lost about ten or more aircraft. Passing an abandoned car on the road they spotted a few more aircraft. These crashed around at what appeared to be a baseball field surrounded by a chain fence. Completing her calculation she made a mental note of 207 downed aircraft radius of crashes stretching a mile or two away. They also found fifteen more of their own aircraft shot down. Pilots were climbing out. The ones still alive and uninjured. Other craft of theirs had also crashed in the dogfights that presumed in the skies.

Panic and hysteria hit some of the pilots  who cut themselves loose from the cockpits. Other pilots rushed over to help them. Riding up to a group of pilots Brynn spied figures creeping along the earth. With just her elf sight, Brynn could spot twelve humanoids encroaching on these pilots. One of their own pilots fired a flare gun in the air. At the same time Brynn and Olalyn shot at the creepers. Using their revolvers and sabers both slew the encroaching hostile rebels. Their sudden attack scared the pilots, some of whom pulled out their own pistols. Circling around in search of more hostiles Brynn glanced at each kill. One Orc Cyclops, some grass eating monster, a Ghoulish brute, with bronze-brown skin, two Gnolls, a manticore with a strange collar, some mutant gargoyle with a strange tail, a cockatrice humanoid, one lime green mutated called a douger. She fought one douger last year. There was also a spikey squid, cycloptic Ogre, steer humanoid, a wolfman and a Gnoll made up the group of eleven creeps.

"...As I was saying there are the Storm Titan D4s, Elder Giant Bomber Fortresses, Vidothran Harpy3s, Hydraspawn7, Whirline Golem heavy bombers, those light blue Leviathans, and Vodwanian, Colossal Dragon bomber of the skies all engaged in a dogfight." one of the pilots tried finishing his story after it was interrupted.

"Hold up there Cerberus, bombers cannot engage in dogfights very well." one of the pilots sort of called the bluff of pilot Cerberus. An olive skinned hybrid of an Orc and human was the one who spoke. His black hair was once slicked back, but now a mess. This Cerberus must be built under his pilot uniform over which he wore a gold armband with a black sun on it.

"Well Ghazzi, Bugov, Vanzil, and Ahdeerson were you there?" Cerberus demanded from the other pilots. Behind them were eight others tending to four wounded pilots. Cerberus had his back turned revealing a three headed hound on the back of his aviator's jacket. Along his left arm she spotted eleven Gantronese flags with a skull over them. The one named Ahdeerson had a Giant Dire Boar on the back of his jacket. Brynn was about to count the number of kills on his sleeve when the one named Ghazzi, a blonde Castarian, blocked her view. His jacket's exposure to her revealed a snake haired witch on the back. The one named Vanzil brushed 8 large insects of him. They crawled on to him when he wasn't paying attention. It was the one named Bugov who noticed them.

"Good morning Country-Guard I am Lieutenant Gregory Bugov of the VUVR air force, Monster Squadron. Thank you for saving us. After fighting those invaders, the malicious mercenaries. We are beginning to identify some hired help." Bugov opened his mouth to speak but his eyes grew wide with a dropped jaw. As though someone orchestrated an experimental play several events happed almost at once. Behind them something alien and mechanic slowly creeped up on them. One of the pilots pointed in their direction hollering for them to drop down.

Brynn looked over her shoulder spotting an alien aircraft coming towards them. Shaped like a shadow beast with arms stretched out to gray prey, this one lowered its altitude. Whichever faction it belonged to it had more of a ramming strategy for ground forces. At its arms she could see perfectly sharp blades for slicing and spearing. Aiming to impale them this alien craft slowly built up its speed while skimming along the earth. Brynn reared her steed out of the way when it was hit by something else. In a fiery explosion this craft blew up in pieces from a shell. Splitting up into pieces it crashed into the alluvial earth. Watching the debris on fire and crashing to the ground only made them more warry of others. Smoldering pieces of metal had smoke rising up that created a wall of black smoke. Brynn's horse had to be calmed down for a few minutes. Hahzel kicked and brayed showing he was scared. Almost flung from her own horse Brynn clung to the reigns. Keeping her feet in the stirrups she about twisted her left foot. Once she got Hahzel calm she dismounted. Even Olalyn's steed, Calahir, went wild causing some of the pilots to hide behind cover or run away from them.

Facing southwest Brynn spotted a pair of gold automatons rolling on wheels speeding past them. Blindly passing them and the debris these two clockworks appeared oblivious to the world. Also the southwest behind the automatons a pair figures were dueling. A Vestrisian pilot engaged a red winged Drake humanoid. To the west from a circlet of statues, two more figures being chased by 8 others headed towards them. Making a circle with her own horse, Hahzel, she spotted no more than four vehicles. Three trucks, and a Chimera tank with double barrels. On top of the tank turret sat the mounted machinegun. It added another head to the Chimera Tank. A team of medics, and Country rescue jumped out of the trucks. Many of them were Zedirians, or male Zunia-Pucks (half human half goat). Whether they were half-goblins, half-Gnoll, half Troglodyte, or had a mix of everything they were labelled as Zedirian. It may sound discriminating, but these hybrids chose to accept. Most even voted to making things simple so long as no one showed discrimination. Leaving them to care for the pilots Brynn signaled Olalyn to help the pilot and deal with the ten other figures. At full gallop they raced over to aid the pilot. Seeing them locked in a duel with the draconic humanoid she noticed the winged humanoid had a broken wing Getting closer Brynn witnessed the pilot duel with a wrench-sword. As bizarre and unusual as it seemed this worked for this pilot. As for the Drake humanoid it had its claws, and a tail tipped with a spearhead.

Olalyn was about to intervene when the pilot skillfully ended it. They performed a technique she thought was the Bymere technique known as Nolmis. It started with a parry, a side swipe that shoved the weapon away ending with a sword thrust. Instead the pilot pushed and kicked them away with a leg and free hand. They did swipe down with the blade cutting the closest leg of their opponent. Right as it screamed in pain the pilot sliced its stomach, then its throat. Seeing the pilot handled themselves the Country-Guard Captains chose to deal with the ten figures. This pilot called out to them taking their focus away.

"Ahoy or is it Greetings and hello here?" the pilot  revealed their voice to be female.

Without a word to them she reared her horse around. Picking up the pilot learned her name was Bethany Panseenn, a pilot, and a blade master. Forced to catch up to Olalyn, Brynn found a tree that resembled a tree Golem in a ring of 60 or so spider statues, and twelve snake statues. Passing these statues Brynn only got a glimpse of the statues as she rode past them. Her gaze transfixed on the group that now became twelve. Hustling her Hahzel to a gallop she witnessed two figures behind the 8 pursuers fall from projectiles. Well ahead of her Olalyn started firing at the 8 figures who shot the other two figures behind them. Brynn raced to catch up to them feeling Bethany's hands grab her repeater.

"What are you doing?" Have you ever fired a gun from horse back before?" she asked the pilot riding backseat.

"I've done archery on horseback. How had can it be with a rifle?" Bethany boasted showing her confidence.

Riding to catch up with Olalyn, Brynn saw him take out one of the pursuers. His single shot forced all of them down to the ground. Seeing them drop to the ground made it harder to hit them. Bethany shot at one, missing them. Feet from them the dust could rose and settled after the bullet's impact. Olalyn fired another shot hitting another pursuer. Bethany fired again nailing her first target in the skull. As Brynn rode up to the pair of figures Olalyn and Bethany shot two more pursuers. Whoever was left charged at them. One trio riddled them with lead bullets as they tried running for it. Checking the pair they did not shoot Brynn found they were a Liege Knight and a female night blade elf.

"Alright names and business being here." Brynn demanded from them. The female elf spoke for them. Wearing black, dark red layered leathery armor this one styled her hair in a bun appeared to take the lead as the spokesperson.

"I am Thanielle Redblade this is Sir Luke Bloodring who lost his voice. I myself lost something, a female half-orc and a hunk of an elf Ranger to eight barbarians from another world. All of that was over two maps to ancient cities, and a pair of emissaries from Evusia, and Niakoth. We um, made home in a structure behind the spiral circle of 26 statues. By the way ladies. Is that a...man I see. Forgive this woman of her desires of the flesh. It has been a while for me." The female elf explained himself and the Knight.

Noticing this elf winking and hinting at Olalyn Brynn was curious. Who arrived from Evusia, and Niakoth? Why did this own know about that? She showed no signs of being a member of any branch in the VUVR military. Gripping her extra pistol hidden in her clothes she grew suspicious. Did these two arrive on Calorn from another world? Were they from another country on Calorn? Or were these two a pair of rebels who sided with the insurgents.

"Where are you from Thanielle Redblade and Sir Bloodring?" Brynn asked them.

"Vimasdra-" Thanielle replied but cut herself off. She covered her mouth in disbelief and regret. Thanielle just gave herself away to Brynn who smiled.

"Olalyn! We have two collaborators here!" she warned the Captain.

Thanielle did a backward somersault several feet away then rolled in the ground. Picking up a large crossbow from one of the dead. Brynn shot the crossbow rendering it useless as it split apart. She felt Bethany slip down from the horse. She went up to the first apprehending Ser Bloodring. The Knight did not seemed pleased to submit, but he had to. It was either apprehension or join the ten other dead party members. Thanielle raised her hands in surrender to the Vestrisians. She held a guilty smile on her face as if she did not mean to do that.

"Sorry about that. Old habits die hard. I'll come peacefully." Thanielle disarmed herself quickly taking out a pair of long curved daggers, short blade, and a tribal knife. Tossing these weapons to the ground she allowed herself to be apprehended.

"You'll be handing me over to some burly man I hope." she said with a wink.

Knowing this one would spread her legs to get free Brynn had Bethany escort them to the Tricorne Forts. The pilot apprehended Thanielle, hauling her and Bloodring off. Bethany tossed Brynn's rifle back claiming she did not need it. Saying her fair wells Brynn searched for Olalyn. The Country-Guard Captain could be found at the circle of statues. Even though they had to get back to their companies they lingered on. squeezing the reigns Brynn pulled on them and gripped the stirrups with her foot. Hahzel moved towards Olalyn's position. Reaching Olalyn's position she could tell the details of some statues. A Crab Draconic Demon, a Roc Eagle, one large Feline Deity looking warrior, a stone Serpent shark dragon with tentacle mane, a mage figure, and one female one with a large bust. That was only six of the 20 statues that appeared to surround an ancient long boat that rotted. Olalyn already dismounted from his steed with a pistol ready in hand. He signaled with the empty hand to dismount quietly.

Brynn dismounted from Hahzel. She then checked her revolver. Finding a few bullets left in the chamber. She tried reloading it quickly while conversing with the pilots. She took a bullet from her belt when another figure appeared from behind a statue. Her gaze now transfixed on them and saw they were a Mulzaneen with a light blue armband that held the sun and green cross on it. This one also had the Gantronese octopus flag and wielded a crossbow. Showing no remorse the Mulzaneen let loose a bolt skimming her leg. Retaliating, Brynn fired the rest of the chamber into him. her heart raced from this encounter. Brynn was a good one with instincts and reflexes. However she was not the best.

Vagi's Mission: Island of Cult Shrines

Saying nothing Vagi and her team went on to the next island. For the rest of the day and well into dusk they went on with their search. In total silence they landed on the third island. She had them make camp near the landing zone. Under the roof of a command tent they found and pitched Vagi’s team rested until dawn. She was the first to wake up and refuel the fire they made outside the tent. The rest of her team woke up to the sounds of waves, and a crackling fire. Making breakfast was not hard just getting the coffee right proved difficult.

Vagi had the team leave it as it was. As one group they explored this next island with the large platform in their view. This island seemed spread out in the shape of a star. Not a five-pointed star, but a star mixed with a flower. Bush, foliage, and various trees covered it. Birds of man colors dotted the branches. Rodent looking mammals, small reptiles, and bugs roamed this island. At the ends of the island’s extensions they discovered shrine like structures. Darek took photographs of these shrines. A hand statue sitting on an island at the end of the one arm had signs of recent offerings. One the opposite end rested a menacing Dragon statue encircled by three small idols, six dragon masks, and sixteen draconic/ reptile skeletons. They also found a strange tree sculpture used as a shrine.

It was dark by the time they returned to camp. Forced to resume exploration Vagi sent the fastest runners with the photographer. When they returned Vagi was ready to head for the rest of the islands. In their report another had statue was found surrounded by flowers and offerings. A pipe organ was found at the end of an arm on the north end. This puzzled them the most. What was a pipe organ doing all the way here. Whoever left it there left it to be used as a cult shrine. The last shrine was a giant mechanical spider currently worshipped by a small band of cultists.

Leaving the island of shrines Vagi’s team witnessed the Junk ship dropping off 33 privateers who came with their own supplies. Going for the other four islands brought them awfully close by a mile. One of these islands had nothing on it except a few trees. She had them circle the island a few times. It took much of the day to reach one of them. In the dark of the night they made landfall and docked on land. Using her elf eyesight and flashlights they found a ship with no masts completely run aground. Eager to find shelter from the in coming rain the team slept inside the ship’s cabin.

On the morning of the fifth day something woke them up. Before she saw what it was, her team smashed it. Eight members took turns smashing a strange mechanical spider. It lay at their feet in multiple pieces. Screws, cogs, wires, bent metal pieces, and strange liquid lay on the cabin floor. No one expected this thing to be here. Praying that was not a mechanical spider belonging to the six copulates vagi checked outside. Just outside the ship were two dire turtles (sea turtles) coming up to the beach.

It appeared clear with no signs of hostiles. This island held a triangular shape. Cut in half by the jungle the land mass was still dwarfed by the thirty-story platform structure. Other platforms she could see appeared taller this one. Vagi jumped down on the sand. Her boots caused the shells to crunch under her feet. She had the pair of dire turtles in her view as she went towards the jungle. Two sets of rock formations sat against the forest jungle like entrances to some roads. As she pressed towards the rocks something caught her attention. Some weird lumpy shapes in the said drew her gaze. Thinking nothing of it she went on to her destination. All those lumps slowly moved towards her in the sand.

Vagi stopped and glanced to find the shape gone. When she turned away if moved while she wasn’t looking. Glancing over her shoulder she saw them lumps moved in the sand. She grew suspicious and placed a hand on her gun. Vagi stopped in place just meters from the rock and stone formations. Her gaze transfixed on the formations when something wrapped around her leg. Grabbed y the leg Vagi drew her weapon to shoot what had nabbed her. Limbs grappled her arm making her drop the pistol. What grappled her were the tentacles of a monster-creature.

“Kem the Intargos 11 has you now.” It said.

Out of the sand more tentacles shot out to grapple her. All four limbs were wrapped up by tentacle arms. From the sands emerged a light grayish mutant with four heads. Vagi’s eyes stared at the smooth skinned mollusk mutant monster. Each head produced a long tongue or two that licked placed she did not want it near. Tongue and tentacles violated her a little as if getting the feel of her body. Vagi was certain this mutant would violate, rape, impregnate or eat her afterwards. Unable to move or shave herself she closed her eyes. As she waited her fate three draconic roars interrupted the mutant’s morning meal. From the flank a three headed drake attacked the mutant named Kem.

Each draconic head grabbed this Kem Intargos 11 by the throat of one head. Torso and limb. Kem released Vagi allowing her to drop on the sand. She made a run for the two portals while the pair of monsters fought. Both gates had purple whirlpools emerge in the rock formations. Passing these portals Vagi entered the jungle wall. Her heart raced in her chest pounding hard against her rib cage. Never had she seen such monsters before. It was no wonder the platforms seas remained untouched. Monsters, lunatics, and other dangers occupied this area of the world.

Vagi dealt with all sorts of scum, villains, crooks, bandits, robbers, brigands, rogues, thieves, psychopaths, creeps, drunkards, vandals, and rapists. She was able to keep herself together in the face of those threats. Vagi hoped to keep it together in the face of the inhabitants of the platform seas. While she took refuge in the jungle growling and fighting filled the air of the island. At sounded very ferocious as one strangled the attacker and the other tore them apart. Hoping the monsters tore each other apart Vagi peeked out of the jungle wall. The Kem Intargos 11 lay in pieces and ripped apart. Her three headed savior feasted on the carcass. Another monster crawled out of the jungle wall. A strange alligator, reptile monster 30 ft long that stood at five feet on its four limbs exited the jungle. Seeing another monster like that made her run to the other side of this island.

Vagi made it to the other side of this island. She found an abandoned Gantronese military tent, and a downed aircraft that crashed on the beach. Pitched against the jungles edge this cone spear shaped tent had a hole. Out of curiosity she checked the tent. Inside she found an egg that hatched a long time ago and remains of a Gantron pilot and scout. Realizing that reptilian monster was on board the crashed aircraft in egg form. It hatched then ate whoever transported it here. With the wine glass shaped platform in view she checked out the crashed aircraft. A total of five pilots and passengers could fit inside it.

“One of these pilots or Gantrons had that egg. Yes, but from where?” she questioned where the egg came from. Her mind kept pondering over that. Taking a good look at this aircraft she noticed it was larger than the standard Zeykos. Usually called Zeykos-or Z Ospreys this craft had another name Z4 prototype fighter or Z4PF. Reading the name of this one she noticed this larger N-0I Overlord Personal Air Carrier Fighter had two seats at the cockpit and three turrets. Two turrets on the wings, one on the rear and the guns on the front. This N-P0I had been here for some time, long enough for that egg to hatch and grow massive.

She turned around to find this strange reptile staring at her. Vagi let out a muffled scream as it scared her. None of its features said it was friendly. Expecting it to swallow her whole Vagi froze with fear. She did not move a single muscle. Her eyes looked into its gaze waiting to become its after meal dessert or snack. All it did was let out a belch that wreaked of fleshly eaten meat. The odor of dead carcasses wafted into her nostrils. Vagi nearly puked in her mouth as the reptile monster left her alone. Shocked, revolted, and awestruck by this encounter Vagi’s gaze followed it. Whatever species this reptilian monster was it entered the sea ignoring her existence. Behind her the team of Vestrisians burst through the jungle wall.

“Lieutenant Vagi are you alright?” Grayblade’s voice asked from behind her.

“Yes, I am alright, get back to the boat. We are close to the wine glass platform.” Vagi replied. She did not look at her team. Her own focus rested on the last island that almost touched the one holding the platform. On this side of the island they faced a stony shore covered in rocks. Wasting no time she returned to the abandoned ship and mounted the VUVR flag on it. The moment they set off their allies dropped off 37 privateers, and 10 Alagen troopers. Three Commanding Officers from three different nations arrived with ten more troops landed. She saw those other 13 came from a Ruhonthran tugboat they commandeered.

Vagi's Mission: To the Arm of Ruined Souls

How the Gantronese got that fortress sized Barge to this side of the southern seas remained a mystery. Yet looking at a map not everything was close. She could just imagine cartographers grinding their teeth while correcting maps. One would be screaming, tearing up a room or cubical. The thought made her chuckle a little bit. Another thought occurred to her. Could the Gantronese made these craft fly above the wall? It would not be surprising knowing where these invaders come from.

A rapping came at her door. Vagi turned to open the door. One of Weatherby’s Oni Bodyguards, companions, raid leaders who lived on the ship as a member of the staff. Weatherby had four of these Oni on board his Destroyer. This was a secret only known among the fleet under Kezef’s command. Vagi and the crew members of every ship acted as confidants to this little secret. Every ship under Kezef’s command had some of these Lamia, and Oni as bodyguards. One of the ships had six female Oni, and another had five.

“You must be Weatherby’s bodyguard. I am Lieutenant Secretary Vagi the replacement. What is your name?” She said looking at the 7ft tall blue skinned Oni in an engineer’s brown tank top, and a handmade sarong wrap.

“Trukog Blue Rage Keiji, former Heavy Gunner of the IGA. I guess you can say I am a bodyguard, but not a concubine like my red skinned fellow Oni, Faikig Yasu.” The big Oni replied to her.

“Oh, I see he keeps bed buddies. Does the Captain need to see me?” Vagi kept looking at his horns. What world did he come from? It was all she could think of right now.

“Yes, he needs to see you right now.” Turkog answered her.

“Lead the way good sir!” She said cheerily. Turkog escorted Vagi through he ship to the Captains location aboard the Basilisk.

“So, um, what planet are you from?” She asked the Oni.

“I, uh don’t talk very much about home, but it is called Dagontu. My family moved to another world called Odragra another Oni home world.” He answered her as he escorted the elf.

“Very Interesting Mr. Keiji. Does your race support the fight against the invaders?” she pressed the question she deemed a little intrusive. Vagi knew Kezef recruited the Oni and Lamia as bodyguards. None one really questioned their political views concerning Calorn’s conflict.

“Not all Oni are unified under one faction. At least three worlds of Oni and others serve those Gantronese invaders. Eight other worlds formed a neutral federation, and Seven Oni worlds are part of this I.G.A. They are behind all those interventions across Calorn before the VUVR formed.” Trukog told Vagi as they made their way through the ship.

“Oh, my Gaivos! I hope you do not have to fight your own people. I would not be surprised if elves fought for the Nazdar as their Grevaskii slave soldiers.” Vagi sighed as a fearsome looking elf passed them. She gave the sailor a good glance. She presumed following the Oni bodyguard to the main under station of the Destroyer.

Located on the bridge portion just below the main radar antenna the radar room had a team of five personnel. Captain weatherby leaned over a table with a map displaying the sea. As she approached the table, she noticed it resembled the area they were in.

“Thank you Trukog for bringing Vagi. You are dismissed.” Weatherby allowed the bodyguard to leave the room.

“Lieutenant Vagi, I pray he did not interrupt your work.” Weatherby looked from the map to face Vagi. “No, I am surprised he did not.”

“Well I am surprised we did not find you nailing a concubine.” Trukog mocked from the stairwell as he left.

Weatherby did not respond to that. He ignored the Oni’s remark. The Oni’s heavy footsteps was all they heard after he ignored the mockery. Weatherby did not wait for the footsteps to disappear. He placed a small version of his own ship on the map. The Captain started marking down where the “Arm of Ruined Souls” stood on the ocean surface.

“Hello again Lieutenant Vagi. Did you read Kezer’s orders?’ he asked her. He moved away from the table.

“Yes sir I did. How many platforms are there?” she replied to the Captain.

“447, but there could be more.” One of the radar team replied.

“Vagi this is radar master Ensign Heartfang, Crewman Lawdust, Crewman Snowbane, Chief officer Oskerag, and radar apprentice seaman Longshade.” Weatherby introduced her to a half elf Ensign with a thin physique, and brown hair. An Estati with blonde hair, an elf crewman with red hair, a Forsythan Chief Officer, and a young human apprentice. Each one greeted her with a nod and a salute. One of them smiled then returned to his main expression. Vagi saluted in return pleased to see she was getting the respect her rank deserved. She looked straight at the Captain waiting to speak.

“Permission to speak sir.” She requested of him.

“I am all ears Lieutenant.” He replied to her.

“Are we sending people to check out the “Arm” and the platform seas?” she had to ask about their plans for this area. It was an area most Vestrisians avoided.

“No, not those ruins and shipwrecks. Just the platforms we can see from here. You will lead a team to one of them. You are to search that platform until sundown. Then mark the ones you have explored. If you can do that otherwise explore the ones closest to the “Arm”. I heard from Iperantos prisoners that some are locked.” Weatherby answered her question with a direct order.

“Wait, sir did you just order me to go there with a team?” She pointed out with comprehension in her voice. She thought she misheard the Captain.

“I did not stutter Lieutenant. Kezef needs that device. These waters must be charted by us and our allies so we can stop fearing those waters. No one has been able to map out this area properly. This area is riddled in shipwrecks, and the days are hardly clear due to fog and mist. For the past three and a half centuries these platforms have been here. Besides, you could use some more experience going out there.” Weatherby explained to her like he was a professor lecturing a student.

“When am I to leave sir?” She asked the Captain unsure if she will even survive any encounters over there.

“As soon as you are ready Lieutenant.” Weatherby said looking at her with a serious expression. “You are dismissed.”

“Yes Captain.” Naphene saluted to Weatherby who returned the salute.

Naphene left the radar station room for her own quarters. She passed a score of the crewmembers. Most of the crew were elves, humans, half-elf, the occasional Estati half elf, half Forsythan, and Elemani, half human, half Forsythan. Those were the typical races to be part of the navy. Dwarfs, Zedirians, the mixed races, and Zunia Pucks hardly joined the navy. Other races like the Gnomes, Goblins, and civilized Orcs were scarce in the navy. There was no discrimination in the VUVR or the VM (Vestrisian Military), Why would there be during this day in age? Aliens, Off-worlders, and non-Calornese beings invaded this world. All the races born on Calorn shard a bond. This made the invaders a common enemy. It was either they unite, stand together, or fall to the invader. Many Orcs were already handpicked for guard duty, bodyguards, security, sentries, smiths, dock workers, anti-tank infantry, artillery crews, and warehouse workers due to their size, strength, and intimidation. As for Goblins they became explosive experts, all the factory jobs, weapons manufacturing, engineering, mechanics, and scavengers. Gnomes do well enough because their family already chosen their profession for them. Dwarfs make better craftsmen, blacksmiths, miners, engineers, tank-crews, inventers, tinkers, and locksmiths. Zunia-Pucks made their roles in the offices, wineries, bars, taverns, inns, textile industry, traffic, shop keepers, clerks, restaurants, and basically everything else. Before this war began many of these races could be found working in all types of professions.

Vagi reached her quarters where she grabbed her hanging bag of military gear. Unzipping the bag, she pulled out the latex (rubbery) jumpsuit. She pulled it one over the thin skintight under jumpsuit every sailor wore in the VUVR Navy. Preparing herself Vagi put on her gun holster belt. It went over the belt that had her Lightning Flash 84 pistol. It held ten clips of ammunition for the LF 84 pistol. Her second belt held the Onway revolver. Vagi had 40 bullets for the Onway. In case she had to swim she pulled the hood over her head. She tucked locks of her hair under the tight fit.

When she was ready, she left her new quarters for the main deck outside. On the Basilisk’s portside a team of 13 chosen members of her crew stood ready. Believing she was late Vagi rushed over to them. All 13 chosen team members wore the same type of latex jumpsuit. They were armed with TM 13 bolt action rifles, E7 gas powered rifles, 7mm submachine guns, OAR 810’s with either a pistol or revolver at their sides. One of the armed team members was an Oni bodyguard of Weatherby. A red skinned female Oni who could crush a sailor like a nut under a hammer.

“Good afternoon I am Lieutenant Naphene Vagi, Weartherby’s new Secretary. He has tasked me with leading you lot on some artifact hunt.” She introduced herself quickly briefing the team on their objective.

“Afternoon Ma’am!” they replied in unison. The red female Oni turned to her.

“Thrilled to meet you. Weatherby’s third bodyguard, raid leader, Kisha Egaino. Your protection is vital to responsibility on this mission. These are crewmen Wolfgust, Snowbane, Reemuse, Nicklebone, Tunar, Regalspire, Seamen Bloodstride, Wolfring, Bonewind, Wildhand, Darek, and Petty Officer Grayblade.” The Female Oni introduced herself and the team to Vagi.

Another Petty Officer approached them. She could describe him as a shorty with red hair, tree shaped scar on one side, and a dark green tattoo of a Plesio Beast. Plesio’s were some marine reptile that still swam around the world. Calorn’s seas and oceans remained chock full of aquatic life. As ships sailed from island to island, shipwrecks added more to the natural scenery. That was shown in a slideshow by Tante elf marine biologists, zoologist, and former wizard Dr. Grasstaker. She was fond of his photos, and slideshows depicting what lay beneath the ocean.

“The Captain says for you to wait until we passed that wall of shipwrecks.” The Petty Officer informed the team.

“Are we supposed to ride the choppiness, or swim to the platforms?” Kisha, the Oni bodyguard complained.

“If it helps Kisha, you can wait in the mess hall below deck.” The Petty Officer snapped in her face.

“Watch it Petty Officer Whitepete or I’ll drown you myself.” Kisha warned the short Officer. Vagi gripped the railing waiting for the two to come to blows as they stared each other off. To the very fortune of the team it did not even heat up into an argument. Whitepete stepped away from the Oni. If either one got into a fight Weatherby or any Captain was obliged to punish them as they saw fit. He checked everyone’s equipment and weapons. On the Basilisk’s portside Vagi witnessed a push through the gap in the “Arm”. Sailing at the speed of 20 knots the Basilisk managed to reach the other side of this infamous “Arm of Ruined Souls”. From the portside Vagi could see the shipwrecks. Ships from every age could be seen among the wreckage. The oldest ones lay underneath the ship classes that came after the succeeding eras. Some ships were broken in pieces while others overlapped one another from hitting rocks, or hidden reefs.

Naphene took in a deep breath. The famed platforms could be discerned from where she stood. Whoever made the platforms designed them in the shapes of wine glasses, short tables, and extremely low stool chairs. Some held the shape of a three bladed dagger. As they drew closer their real shapes became more defined to the eye. Structures tall and short could be seen on the tops of these platforms. At the base or feet of the platforms lay islands, and islets. Such a sight brought wonder to their eyes.

“The platform seas.” Vagi heard herself say. She sounded awestruck at the sight of these alien structures that dotted an archipelago. Words escaped the rest of her team as they looked on. Petty Officer Grayblade’s voice pierced the silence.

“Do you see that platform resembling a wineglass missing the stem?” He asked the team as though he was a tour guide.

“Wait for my signal before disembarking.” Grayblade warned them. Several crew members came over and prepared a boat for them. It looked like a large inflatable raft. Other members came over to drop dry ice in the water. Doing these created a fog to hide their movements. This was used against the Vullanese ho lost entire fleets to them during the first year of the conflict. Grayblade waited for the fog to cover a good portion of the area before giving the signal after getting permission from Vagi. His sounded pressing the team to launch their mission.

One by one they climbed down on the boat. Vagi sat in the center next to Kisha. Upon launching the boat-raft Petty Officer Grayblade had Snowbane steer their transport. Going forward they followed an island they could spot through the fog. Vagi turned around to see how far they progressed. She could barely make out the Basilisk’ turrets, and shape in the growing fog. She was curious about their intentions here. Were they about to set up a base or an outpost in the platform seas?

The island they traced made them move in a serpentine pattern. Along this island coast sat rock pillars that stuck out. Vagi spotted some unfortunate sailors and their boats that crashed into the rocks. Each skeleton looked to be impaled by the pillars as they lay in the shoals. Moving around the pillars brought the team into the fog. With Grayblade at the helm the journey felt less jerky. He did a good job avoiding contact.

“Which one should we head for?” she heard Kisha as Grayblade.

“Once we get closer, we’ll know.” The Petty Officer said steering them into the building fog on their left flank. Thanks to Grayblade’s steering they avoided collisions. Coming out of the fog, they found themselves in open water. In their view stood the towering platforms. Standing at approximately thirty or more stories high these platforms appeared like citadels among islands. Each one of them was the size of a fort or castle. Vagi counted close to seventeen and more in her viewpoint. Taking another look, she spotted islands, islets, and rock formations at the feet of these structures. She also noticed the structures were made from some metal alloy that did not rust.

If these metal platforms had been here for centuries, then they must have endured plenty of rain. Plenty of rain fall pounding on a metal piece caused it to rust. All these platforms suffered was a buildup of coral, sea foliage, and island brush. The closest one to them lay about two miles away. Vagi studied this platform that held the shape of a wine glass vase without a stem. It had an overhanging rim encircling the metal building’s roof. Between them and this platform stood other seven islands.

On these islands she spotted plenty of foliage, and wildlife prowling around. Two islands had a small mound or hill. Three islands hosted nothing, one had some rock formations, and the last one had plenty of foliage. She also spotted what appeared to be seven bases on these islands. Looking around she saw more islands with the usual foliage, rocks, palm trees, coconut trees, and other tree types. As they came closer to the islands and the platform Grayblade slowed down. He went straight for the closest island in their path. Just looking at the islands upon a closer glance the first island hosted a patch of jungle, animals, two structures, three overturned boats, three rafts pulled together forming a dock. She only spotted these over her team’s heads. Once they made landfall next to a rock and three trees the team got off their transport.

“Split up into groups of two and scour the whole island. That includes you Ms. Vagi.” Grayblade ordered the team. It took a second for Vagi to realize what he just did.

“Petty Officer Grayblade did you forget your rank?” She put in against the Petty Officer. He was only in charge of getting them here.

“With all due respect Lieutenant, you are a non-combat officer. A Secretary who is female and prissy elf.” Grayblade pointed out to the female elf. “These are my troops not yours.”

“Very well Petty Officer Grayblade, Kisha and I will search those structures. You can take your troopers to the other side of the island!” Vagi snapped back at him showing her frustration. Grayblade was taken aback by this. He opened his mouth to speak.

“Ah! Visitors!” a shrill voice caught their attention. All heads turned to see a six legged humanoid with long arms, elongated face appear before them. This strange humanoid resembled a humanoid spider hybrid stretched thin without the pincers, abdomen, thorax and the typical spider like facial appearance.

“Greetings, greetings skogers, I am Karsos the advocate, dresser, guest keeper, and your host! Come, come and dine with us!” this strange humanoid introduced itself. Music started playing from behind them. The sound captivated Vagi’s body. Whatever instrument it was the strumming numbed their bodies. Grayblade and his unit dropped their weapons.

“Minstrel Migooloo, Ushers Keejal, Leok please escort our new guests to cook Mogizad!” this Karsos commanded whoever was behind them. It took the cap from Grayblade’s head and put it on its own thin head. Vagi could not move a muscle no matter how much she tried. However, she could still move her head and neck muscles. She managed to turn her head to spy three more strange humanoids. One held the appearance of a stout, thick skinned toad humanoid with a large oval head. It wore raggedy monk robes sewn from pieces. In its hands was the instrument, a guitar. Another strange creature wielding a guitar looked like a pink headed mammalian humanoid. Its own head was very tusker in appearance. No tusks, long trunk nose dangling from the nose part could be seen on this one. It did not even have the ears of a tusker. Wearing tattered and torn robes of a green witch with the nature symbol on the sleeves.

She presumed this one was Leok who then grabbed her by the arm. It rubbed her arm a little too much to her comfort. Due to the numbness there was no way she could feel his hands. This Leok licked its lips and started kissing her arm. The third one was a cat humanoid in Mezeen nomadic garb suited for the desert environment. Vagi did not know where these humanoids came from. She could only guess these were not who the claim to be. Her old police instincts of dealing with con artists kicked in. She kept thinking of where they must be from as the trio brought them to the other side of the island. Along the edge of the jungles she spotted two little monkeys on trees, four wild pigs running at the trunk of the trees, eight jungle birds perched on branches, a pair of rodents burrowing into the dirt, and seven ocelots (jungle cats) watching them.

On the other side of the island Keejal, Leok, and Minstrel Migooloo took the team of Vestrisians to a campsite settlement. This settlement consisted a few huts, two hammocks, five sails made into tents, a gold statue in the center, and three campfires. Surrounding this campsite lay seven or more bushes, more palm trees, and six heavy cannons in a line facing the sea. Next to the statue six chests, seven barrels, and several pales were set up to form a dining table. The barrels were shoved into the sand to make seats and the chests pushed together to form a table.

At one of the fires stood a pig looking humanoid. Above the roaring fire was a spit wheel. On the spit wheel roasted a huge chunk of meat that was hard to identify. This pig was turning the wheel so the meat could roast better. Karsos sat each one of them down at this makeshift table. Unable to resist or move Vagi’s team were involuntarily seated. A total of seven bottles, seven mugs, a single flask, two lanterns, and five melee weapons sat on this table. For a tablecloth decoration nine pirate and Iperantosi flags were used. As Vagi sat on a barrel she spotted a wooden rack holding up seven preserved fish.

When did these five strange humanoids arrive on Calorn? Vagi kept asking this question in her head. Karsos circled the seated guests. Behind him the tusk less Leok. skipped and hopped around with joy. The feline humanoid Keejal retracted its claws as big as fingers. Keejal strummed his claws on the table eyeing each one of the guests. It sent signals to Vagi that his was just a trap that she wished she had seen coming. Migooloo entered a tent to drag out a tied-up woman bound to a crate.

“Greeny Witchy, so happy to see you join us! Your dancing will please the guests before they rest!” Karsos said cheerily mocking the bound witch.

Vagi could only watch the bound-up woman get violated by the toad Migooloo. Leok hopped over to violate greeny witchy with Migooloo. Just the noise that emitted from her sent vibes their own women were next. Keejal the Cat went to certain members of Vagi’s team. Long claws scratched their faces as though they were being marked for something. Before Vagi knew what was even going on Keejal pulled out a dagger. In moments, her own team started to get picked off by the cat humanoid. One by one, members of their team had their throats slit. Petty Officer Grayblade was the first to go. After him was Wolfdust, Tunar, Nickelbone, and Bonewind. Keejal offered Karsos the dagger. Their host took out an unfamiliar fruit and cut into it. Karsos slid the dagger in and out before he went for the next target. Vagi expected their host to proceed with killing the next one. Petty Officer Grayblade sprung back to life. It startled Vagi and caused the Oni to scream. The thing called Leok leapt high in the air only to land on the table.

Naphene knew what came next as it pulled up its robes. Exposing itself in front of Kisha Leok revealed a foot and a half member. Both the Oni’s eyes and mouth opened wide at the sight in total shock. Even Vagi’s face did the same thing as the numbness began subsiding. Leok shoved it into the Oni’s mouth then covered her with his robes. Holding her head he proceeded facilizing her.

“Leok, Leok, no bad, bad experimental mutant 10627F! You are not allowed unless we agree! LEOK TAKE YOURSELF OUT NOW!” Karsos commanded in a shrill voice. Leok kept at it, going down Kisha’s throat.

Naphene Vag could hear her choking, groans, whimpers, and the noise of slapping skin clearly. Leok went faster in a ferocious pace. It gave out a howl indicating it came in Kisha. Leok basically ignored Karsos’ commands and went for another, Vagi. Her eyes went straight for the bulge in the robe knowing what its size was. She prepared herself for what was to come. She only hoped it did not get her pregnant. For Kisha’s sake she hoped the Oni would get lucky and not give birth to its spawn.

“Keejal deal with Leok. For Leok refuses to obey the rules of Karsos. Therefore, usefulness has run its course in Leok.” Karsos ordered the cat humanoid. Host Karsos wanted to have Leok killed over this. Naphene felt relief for that. At least these mutants had some code of ethics.

“With pleasure master Karsos. Leok it’s time for you to die.” Keejal warned Leok who violated Kisha a little more. Then it stopped to face Keejal’s threat. Leok threw its robe off. All eyes could not avoid his exposed body.

Leaping from the table Leok showed his own nude body to be skinny with strong limbs. Its muscles appeared too big for a small physique. The feline drew an orange retractable blade, extending it to three feet long. Leok wielded his own dick as a club. Keejal took one swing of his weapon cutting part of Leok’s member off. The cat struck again moving to the side and avoiding blood spurts. He or she decapitated Leok’s head from the body. Three pieces that were once Leok landed on the ground. Blood poured out of each piece soaking the sand. Leok’s puss and blood was a strange color mixture none of them saw before.

Keejal sheathed the blade after wiping it clean and retracting the blade. The cat turned to Host Karsos. The cat humanoid gave Karsos a nod who tipped the hat in approval. A loud gunfire from a Gantronese Munagar model 12 sniper rifle ended the silence. Keejal went down, hitting the ground. Another shot from the hidden Munagar came afterwards. Karsos fell with the shot, puncturing through Karsos’ neck. Migooloo stopped violating the witch. The toadling drew a hidden pistol and went after the source. He took four steps only to be hit by the third shot. Migooloo collapsed to the ground when the shot hit him in the chest. Cook Mogizod ran for the sea in full panic. He flapped his fat arms like he was trying to fly. A fourth shot went after him, but missed him. Vagi watched the pig man disappear behind the tents and the other patch of brush.

“Is everyone okay?” Vagi heard a female’s voice shout from their blind spots.

“We don’t have any movement in our bodies. I believe we are in shock.” Vagi spoke for the team of thirteen.

“Sounds like you need a dose of gray hearts elixir, or Nevazaprine. Both work nicely for that situation. The name is Asaru Kheerla, Public Guardian Agent. I have been hunting those five criminals all over the galaxy. I suppose you lot must be them Vestrisians fighting the Gantronese and the Nazdar.” The sound of the voice sounded close to their location.

“Lieutenant Secretary Naphene Vagi of Destroyer Basilisk of the Vestrisian Union Navy.” She went ahead and introduced herself.

A tall lean figure in a camouflage metal combat armor emerged out of the small jungle. Vagi was sure this was the one who just saved them. This Asaru went over to free them. On this Public Guardian was a strange gun holding liquid of blue color. Asaru approached them slowly. She did this with caution as Vagi watched her approach. Vagi insisted that she be the first one. Asaru put the gun against her left shoulder and shot into it. Naphene’s body shook a little as the feeling her body returned. The Lieutenant stretched before getting up. Asaru went around the table giving Vagi’s team a dose of Nevazaprine. As the leader, Vagi believed it was best she held their hand. Once everyone received a dose of the Nevazaprine she left them with orders. While they took time to recover she snooped around. She checked the structures of the settlement.

She checked the tents first. Each one appeared empty until she took a closer look. One had the set up of a prison with chains, shackles, and chain balls. A prosthetic hand lay on the floor. In another tent she discovered four rings of nobles that had blood on them. She got a closer looked and recognized them as Iperontosi noble rings, and Gantronese rings. There were also six baskets hold twenty-five firearms. These four structures had 19 tools, 2 maps, 3 pieces of furniture, and 7 crates turned to beds. On each of these beds lay a discarded hat. As she exited the last one she noticed a pile of coconuts, some cannonballs and poor greenie witchy.

“Poor woman, no one should endure that.” Asaru said as Vagi checked her pulse.

“She is dead.” Vagi said almost chocking on pity and grief for the green witch.

“I can see that. She was an outlaw from a black mage planet. After poisoning some rivals, she was locked up in Hell Prison, a moon prison. On that moon prison a mass riot broke out. It resulted in a prison break in one of the centers on that moon. Out of 2,200 inmates inside that one center 1,053 of them got out of their cells. Only 11 escaped the planet alive. More than 800 died in the jail break.” Asaru explained to Vagi who this witch really was. Asaru went over to Keejal and handcuffed him despite his wound.

“How long have searched for them?” Vagi asked her.

“Almost a full year since my investigation and hunt began.” She replied to the elf grabbing Keejal by the arm. Asaru pulled him up and hauled him along with her. This off world foreigner left them for the other side of this island. Vagi did two laps before returning to her team. On her loops she found nine more islets to claim. Without hesitation she pulled out a flag, the VUVR flag of a gold anvil in the center of a blue field. A crossed sword, wrench and pickaxe connected to a pitchfork. Vagi marched around looking for something to use as a flagpole. Going around she passed her team who finished burying the witch in the sand. They gathered up weapons then proceeded to help her.
