Enius the Elf Platoon Leader slapped the young cocky Cadet O'Legadus for inappropriately touching a female staff hired to help clean their ships. It had been a week since the last incident, and that one involved a half Orc grunt trooper and one of the kitchen staff. Discipline had to be restored from time to time. Enius proceeded with his own measures for restoring discipline, beating his ass into the floor. This little son of an elf Sorceress had little arcane powers in him. His family was one of many wealthy and powerful houses, which explained the arrogance. He decided to teach this boy a lesson in manners and discipline. After all they did not need his piloting skills at the moment. O'Legadus was done with the usual patrols, and Enius was going to another planet with his platoon of 26.
Their mission was to land on an archipelago somewhere along the coasts of a kingdom known as Sanyth. Sanyth was somewhere on the planet known as Oturn. There were more islands than continental land masses on this one planet making the ocean cover more of Oturn's mass. Their sources informed them of more than fifteen thousand platforms scattered all over the planet. None of these were made by the natives as the planet sadly had not sentient beings. Only wildlife, and marine life lived on this world. Enius had to take his platoon and seize a large platform near the archipelago. His platoon of 26 Elves loaded themselves on the gunship that was to take them down to the surface of Oturn. Once he was on the gunship the pilots charged up the engines and slowly lifted up from the loading platform. On board each cruiser of the IGC are two platforms, a loading platform and a landing platform. Their gunship launched from the loading one with only elite commandos as the cargo and nothing else save for extra weapons and ammo.
From his seat Platoon Leader Enius had a window to look out from. Outside he saw those red fleshy octopus space leeches that lingered around. One of the nasty creatures latched itself on the gunship. If any got inside any sentient being that was not an animal were blood sack smoothies to them. Blood consumers like the Epheropods of Galaxy 4 were distant cousins to these Cephalovampirus that were going extinct. He smiled when the engine thrusts came on. The bloodsucking creature did not last very long as the gunship sped towards Oturn. Enius watched Oturn grow in size as the gunship approached the planet. As they entered the atmosphere the gunship rocked upon entry. It took several minutes for them to reach the calmer skies.
Their pilots did not hesitate to turn leftward to the very part of this archipelago they were supposed to land on. Enius spotted hundreds of these strange platforms dotting the archipelago of islands and islets. His only thoughts were on the mission of seizing one of these, and whether the CSO were here or someone else. At this time the IGC or Inner Galactic Coalition were in full conflict with the Chaotic Surprise Oligarchy, Order of the Beast, and a semi conflict with two other expanding empires. Drawing closer to the intended target made him nervous for some reason. He had a platoon of elites and no other back up until the main invasion force had assembled. As for knowledge of these natives not much was known other than trade, and culture. Oturn was divided into twelve or fifteen kingdoms that often fought among each other.
Whatever the borders of the Sanyth Kingdom were he could tell from this height. Squinting his eyes he saw people walking about on the islands and around the platform they were to land on. Shaped liked a goblet this metallic structure stood at 47 stories tall. Dusk was approaching fast on this part of Oturn. His platoon's gunship went down to land. Landing when the enemy can see was never a good sign. This time the enemy appeared oblivious to this. Enius had his platoon prepare to show no mercy unless the hostile surrendered. Touching down the platoon jumped off the gunship. Enius was the last to jump and land on the top of this platform. Finding the door on the roof was no problem as they found a short tower that led to the interior. His platoon stormed the structure gunning down everything in their path. Zero platoon member stopped or even pondered as they progressed through the structure. Making their way down to each level made it feel like they were going underground. Enius shot every few floors as his platoon kept moving and missing the ones who hid from them. Non stop moving brought them to the bottom in twenty minutes of killing 114 hostiles inside this platform.

Outside the structure they were met with the night sky and cowering thralls and captives forced to be on this island. He looked up at the night sky searching for a glimpse of the main invasion fleet. None of the ships could really be seen at night. The stars were out making it harder to see the lights of the ships unless they were moving. Platoon Leader Enius fired a flare gun in the night sky. His platoon unit watched it go up then burst into a red orange flare. Signalling the invasion fleet was their only hope of getting back to HQ as the gunship flew back to home base. In moments their entire invasion fleet appeared with enough fire power to take on an armada.
